Statement of Purpose
Mission Literacy in Motion believes that improving literacy skills enriches the quality of life for individuals and the community. Therefore, our purpose is to promote the growth of literacy in Mission.
Definition of Literacy
We value and adopt a broad definition multifaceted definition of literacy. We adhere to traditional reading, writing, and numeracy modes of understanding literacy. However, we also embrace: social literacy, cultural literacy, health literacy, civic literacy, technological and ecological literacy which encompasses skills and knowledge citizens use to effectively live rich fulfilling lives.
